“Strong melodies, excellent songwriting, and a uniquely textured vocal… the whole package.” - Phoenix Red (Universal Music Group)
Summer Sequoia, the singer-songwriter and guitarist of the band, graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy with a fine arts award in songwriting in 2018. She then went to Los Angeles College of Music where she graduated with an associate's degree in songwriting in 2021. Summer has opened for names such as The Accidentals and Jonathan Richman. She has also synced a track with John & Partners Advertising. Summer is now working with her band to prepare their debut album.
Tyler Hamlin, the drummer in the band, is currently pursuing a degree in recording arts at the University of Colorado Denver. He Fuses his influences from funk, soul, and hip hop with the rock sound of the band to create an interesting musical perspective. Throughout high school, he received numerous awards for performances with his school’s jazz band at competitions across the state. A versatile drummer, Tyler has also gained extensive experience from playing live in venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and the University of Colorado Boulder’s Folsom Field.
Jacob is the elusive bassist of the band. He appears at rehearsals through a poof of black smoke and leaves the way he came. We don't know much about Jacobs' whereabouts but we think he went to music school at some point. All we care about is that he can play a mean bass riff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Origin Story
The unlikely group first formed when Summer Sequoia (vocals, guitar) got a message from someone on Bandmix of all places. She’d recently moved to Denver after her first band dissolved following the release of Ghost due to covid. Not knowing how else to start and not having any connections in the area, she invited a stranger into her apartment to play some tunes. That stranger was Jacob Burton (bass) a sarcastic little weirdo who arrived in a poof of black smoke. After finding a drummer who quickly left the band and a gig at a local venue, the band was in a pinch for a third player. Summer met Tyler Hamlin (drums) through sitting in on a rehearsal with some friends and mentioning her situation. Tyler immediately offered his business card (yes, his business card) and the three scheduled their first rehearsal together. Summer expecting Tyler to be a temporary drummer who only liked hip hop and R&B, and Tyler expecting Summer to write vaguely about breakups paired with droning guitar and too much reverb. After their first show though, the group felt like family and there was no question or even conversation about continuing to play together. They just had to get Tyler to stop wearing button-ups to every show.
